“I buffet my body and make it my slave.” 1 Corinthians 9:27
Hosea 4:6 says…”my people perish from lack of knowledge”. However, God’s instruction doesn’t stop there…
“Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you as my priests.” Hosea 4:6b
What does this mean? Could it be that in answer to prayer for healing, God gives us knowledge? If we reject the knowledge, we reject the healing.
When Hosea wrote this passage, both the priests and the people rejected knowledge. Not only did they forget the law of God, they did not desire to know God or His Law. We do this to our own peril. The Bible is not a list of do’s and don’ts, it is full of valuable information for our good. God created us, who better to show us how to take care of our earthly, physical bodies… ”Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
Even in our disobedience God does not forsake us. He continues to get our attention, to get us to live in obedience. Even in the way we are created, the body is designed to respond and bring correction.
Let’s take another look at “mucous”…
If you continue to “dry up” the mucous and build the toxins in your cells, you may wind up with an infection. Drugs are then needed to fight the infection. Accompanying the mucous, we now have inflammation (fever) and pain. Inflamed tissue becomes painful. We now need further drugs to eliminate pain. Instead of the original “cold”, we wind up with a sinus infection, which can then become a sinus or migraine headache, and worse. What are we to do?
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17
To believe in healing and not seek and apply knowledge is foolishness. Remember, God gave us His Word as instructions for our lives, NOT to put us in bondage, but to set us free - to set us free of disease, pain, lack of energy, and a myriad of ailments and conditions. John 8:31 &32 tells us “Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
There are many ways to live in bondage, but applying the truth of God will set you free.
