Principle 7: Give and it shall be given to you…

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

The successful road to recovery leads to sharing: sharing what we have learned, what we are learning, where we’ve been, and where we are now.   Shared struggles become easier, shared victories become sweeter.  Both offer support as well as accountability.  Continue reading

Principle 6: Science will prove the Bible, because the Bible is accurate and relative.

The Bible does not call itself a book of Science…

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  John 1:1.

God created “science”, and through science we will see God; through science we will see God’s laws at work in perfect harmony.

Principle 5: Principles for healthy living can be found in the Bible.

”My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.”  Proverbs 4:20

I have owned and operated health food stores, been involved with networking companies who sell supplements, have attended countless seminars, and have spent thousands of dollars learning “alternative” methods to building better health.  For a while, it seemed the more I learned, the more confused I got.  Continue reading

Principle 4: To build health, we must live in obedience to God’s word.

“I buffet my body and make it my slave.”         1 Corinthians 9:27

Hosea 4:6 says…”my people perish from lack of knowledge”.  However, God’s instruction doesn’t stop there…

Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you as my priests.”  Hosea 4:6b

What does this mean?  Could it be that in answer to prayer for healing, God gives us knowledge?  If we reject the knowledge, we reject the healing.  Continue reading

Principle 3: What we don’t know destroys us.

“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”

Hosea 4:6a

A onetime common disease among sailors was scurvy.    This disease killed more sailors than all battles, storms and other diseases combined from the 16th to 18th centuries.  Today we know that scurvy is caused by a deficiency in Vitamin C.  Because sailors were aboard ships at sea longer than perishable fruits and vegetables could be stored, even the strongest succumbed to its effects.  Sailors lost their lives through a lack of knowledge.

“I don’t want to know!” Continue reading

Principle 2: Stop Breaking the body down…

“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you,   in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

Acts 3:26 (NKJV)

Notice the blessing came through the “turning away… of our iniquities”, turning away from that which destroys us.

Most of us are aware of the major health destroyers – cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs.  Even the foods we eat are destroying our health, foods like – salt, sugar, fat, and “fake” food.  And it’s not just what goes in our mouth that is harming us, but what goes in our hearts and happens in our lives; we are discovering how devastating stress can be! Continue reading

Principle 1: Give the body what it needs…

As we begin with the first principle, I would like to state that…  I do not believe  herbs, vitamins, foods, nor medicine and special therapies are able to “heal” the body.  I believe God created the body with the ability to heal itself.  However, the body does have specific requirements in order to do so. And this is where we begin our first principle:

If you give the body what it needs

and stop breaking it down, the body will heal.

Part One: Principles For Building Better Health Biblically

Moses didn't need bifocals!Over the next few posts, we will look at 7 Principles necessary for Building Better Health Biblically.  As an avid gardener, I’ve learned there are principles to follow to build fertile soil.   We will take a look at principles that are necessary to help us build an abundance of health, energy, and fitness…

Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.”  Deut. 34:7

It seems to me that Moses did not need bifocals!  Nor was he sick or weakly.  He simply went to sleep.

Is this a standard we can expect today?  Continue reading
